National Orientation Agency (NOA) has warned the general public about fraudsters impersonating the agency’s Director General, Mallam Issa-Onilu, and offering unauthorised claims and services.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, the deputy director of press, Paul Odenyi, said the NOA does not conduct its operations via social media, which is not a channel for official directives from the director general.
He said, “It has come to the notice of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) that fraudsters are increasingly using the name of our director-general to prey on unsuspecting members of the public, especially on social media, with claims and services not within the core mandate of the Agency,” he said.
Odenyi said that in the past three months, several phone numbers, including +2347032586076, WhatsApp accounts, and social media profiles, have been used to falsely claim association with Director General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Odenyi urged the public to rely on the official NOA website for accurate information and updates about the agency’s activities.
“For authentic information and updates about the activities and operations of the NOA, we strongly advise members of the public to verify through the official website of the Agency, www.noa.gov.ng, or interact with our AI-enabled voice and text assistant, CLHEEAN,” he said.
He stressed that the public can engage with the NOA on its updated social media platforms: Facebook at National Orientation Agency Nigeria, and on X, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube at noa_Nigeria.
“We implore members of the public to exercise vigilance and prudence when approached with unverified offers or announcements regarding the activities of the Agency,” he said.
