Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has commended Nigerian workers for their resilience, dedication and critical role in driving national development.

In a statement issued to newsmen yesterday in Abuja to mark International Workers’ Day, Issa-Onilu described workers across the country as the backbone of the economy and key contributors to Nigeria’s progress.

He noted that the occasion offered an opportunity to reflect on the dignity of labour and the sacrifices made daily by workers in both the public and private sectors to sustain the nation.

“The commitment and resilience of Nigerian workers remain central to our national growth, even in the face of prevailing economic and social challenges,” he said.

The NOA boss emphasised that Nigeria is at a critical stage in its development, requiring increased productivity, discipline, and a renewed dedication to excellence from all citizens to achieve sustainable progress.

He urged workers to uphold values such as hard work, integrity, and professionalism, stressing that these principles are essential not only for individual advancement but also for collective national development.

Issa-Onilu also reiterated the agency’s position that meaningful national transformation begins with a shift in mindset, calling on Nigerians to embrace a culture that promotes diligence, innovation, and accountability.

He further encouraged citizens to reject corruption, indolence, and inefficiency, which he identified as major obstacles to development across key sectors of the economy.
