NOA Hails Kwara Gov’t For Erecting West Africa’s Tallest Flagpole

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the Kwara State government for erecting a 70-metre flagpole, the tallest of its kind in West Africa.

Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu who stated this, noted, that as the custodian of national symbols, the agency recognised the significance of the flagpole in fostering unity and patriotism among citizens.

Issa-Onilu added that the high-flying flag represents not only the sovereignty of Nigeria, but also the collective spirit and unity of the diverse groups that have embraced Kwara as their home.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Communication and Media, Paul Odenyi, the NOA boss commended the Kwara State government’s efforts in creating a landmark that showcased the nation’s rich cultural heritage and promoting socioeconomic development.

The DG, who noted that the flagpole’s impact extends beyond its physical presence, inspiring citizens to celebrate their heritage and seize growth opportunities, also stressed its essence as a cultural yardstick, reflecting the nation’s dynamic spirit and harmonious blend of ethnic diversity.

He also highlighted its economic potential in attracting tourism, investment, and development opportunities, noting that “by drawing visitors from around the globe, Kwara State enhances its position as a destination for cultural exploration and economic engagement.”

Issa-Onilu further reiterated the NOA’s commitment to promoting the cultural heritage of the country.

He stressed that together, a brighter future can be created for the citizens alongside showcasing the best of Nigeria’s cultural heritage to the world.
