Nollywood Stars Rally Behind Peggy Ovire Amid Marital Crisis

Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire is receiving a wave of support from her colleagues following her ongoing marital crisis with fellow actor Frederick Leonard, as friends and industry peers rally around her publicly on social media.

The show of solidarity came after Peggy posted a photo of herself on Instagram with the simple caption “Milkshake,” prompting an outpouring of love from some of the industry’s biggest names in her comment section.

Nkechi Blessing, Angela Eguavoen, Destiny Etiko, Chizzy Alichi, Toyin Lawani, Uju Okoli, Juliet Ibrahim, and Empress Njamah were among those who shared warm, encouraging messages for the actress.

The support comes on the back of a turbulent period for Peggy, who has been vocal about the breakdown of her marriage. According to reports by the media, the actress publicly called out Frederick Leonard, accusing him of having an affair with a married woman with children and of stalling their divorce proceedings.

She alleged that, despite Frederick having initiated the divorce, he failed to appear in court when served.
Peggy also shared a video of her estranged husband and his alleged lover at a public event, describing their behaviour as shameless, and warned him against skipping their scheduled customary court appearance on June 23rd for a second time.

In May, Frederick, while marking his birthday, hinted at a personal transformation, saying he had fully come into his own and was happier than ever. Peggy appeared to respond subtly, expressing gratitude to God and declaring that she had chosen herself.

The actress had earlier sparked conversation online when she posed a pointed question to her followers, asking what women would do if they discovered their partner was involved with a married woman, adding that the hypocrisy of such men, who condemn single women for similar behaviour, was not lost on her.

Peggy Ovire and Frederick Leonard were married on November 19, 2022, at a star-studded ceremony in Asaba, Delta State.
