Normalcy has returned to Damaturu Metropolitan Council in Yobe State after protests by members of the state chapter of the Commercial Tricycle Riders’ Association of Nigeria.
The state police command deployed measures to restore order in Damaturu, the state capital.
The police said the protest was an outright breach of law and order for the riders to take to the streets on issues that can easily be addressed through lawful means.

A statement signed by the police command spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, warned that anyone found in an unlawful gathering or protesting without proper permission from security agencies would be arrested and prosecuted.

The commissioner of police, Garba Ahmed, called on the riders to be law abiding and avoid acts that could lead to public disturbance of peace as the command was working towards peaceful dialogue with Yobe State Road Transport Agency (YOROTA) and the Association of Commercial Tricycle Riders in the state. He called on the people of the state to continue to support the security agencies working in the state.
