A private university in Gombe State, North Eastern University Gombe, has matriculated 450 newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The matriculation ceremony was held on Saturday at the university and attended by renowned academics and top government officials drawn from different places in the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the university’s vice chancellor, Professor Yahaya Amuda Yusuph, emphasised the institution’s dedication to nurturing students’ abilities and helping them excel in their chosen careers.
He also stressed the importance of discipline, noting that the university has zero tolerance for vices and indiscipline.
“As the first private university in Gombe State, North-Eastern University Gombe is poised to make a meaningful impact on the region. The university’s mission is to produce graduates who will be employers, not just employees,” he stated.
Also speaking, the registrar, Hauwa Abubakar, revealed that North-Eastern University Gombe offers over 27 various degree programmes in sciences and social sciences.
She said these programmes provide students with a wide range of options to explore.
She added that the university’s focus on academic excellence is evident in its recognition of outstanding students, with 256 students receiving awards for their impressive GPAs ranging from 4.85 to 5.00.
In his remarks, the founder and pro-chancellor of the university, Dr Sani Jauro, welcomed the new students and expressed his pride in the institution’s growth.
He noted that the university’s expansion of its programmes was driven by its commitment to providing high-quality education and developing the region’s human capital.
