Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has called for stronger collaboration among the northern states as the most effective strategy for tackling the twin challenges of poverty and insecurity confronting the region.
The governor who spoke through his representative, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, yesterday in Bauchi at an event to mark the 50th Golden Jubilee of the state said the scale and complexity of economic hardship and security threats in the North required a united front that goes beyond individual state efforts.
He noted that shared borders, common socio-economic realities and interlinked security concerns make regional cooperation not just desirable but essential.
He urged northern leaders to deepen partnerships in areas such as agriculture, education, infrastructure development and intelligence sharing, adding that sustained collaboration would help unlock economic opportunities while restoring peace and stability across the region.
