North Won’t Back Atiku In 2027, Says TSO DG

The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Organization (TSO), Hon. Aminu Suleiman, has declared that northern Nigeria will not support former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that equity demands President Bola Tinubu completes two terms in office.

Suleiman, who spoke with State House correspondents after meeting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, argued that the North had already occupied the presidency for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari and should allow power to remain in the South for another four years.

According to him, the principle of fairness and national balance requires that Tinubu be given the opportunity to complete eight years in office.

“We cannot be greedy. Muhammadu Buhari was there for eight years, and we are part and parcel when Asiwaju really accepted Muhammadu Buhari to come to power, so we have finished eight years in office,” he said.

“I think those of us who come from the Northwest need to allow Asiwaju to complete eight years in office so that we can see that Nigeria is balanced,”he said.

Suleiman maintained that the North would not rally behind Atiku’s presidential ambition, saying the former vice president stood little chance of securing support from the region.

“So, Buhari has done his own eight years in office, and I really want to commend the FCT minister, Wike; he has done very well in Abuja, and even the Minister of Works. So, all these people that come from the North are not going anywhere, especially Atiku Abubakar,” he said.

The TSO Director-General expressed confidence that President Tinubu’s performance in office would guarantee his re-election in 2027.

According to him, the administration’s infrastructure projects and economic reforms are already yielding results across the country.

Asked what the President would campaign on ahead of the next general election, Suleiman pointed to ongoing infrastructure development, including projects in Kebbi State.

“You can see the projects that are going on now down to the area where I come from, Kebbi State, which is a super highway. It is one of the biggest projects that Mr President is doing,” he said.

Suleiman added that governors were receiving improved funding from the Federal Government, describing it as unprecedented.

“I just came back from Kebbi State; I interacted with His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris, Kebbi State governor, and you can see money being released to the governors—it has never happened in Nigeria.

“There are many projects that Mr President has initiated in three years; I think it will be good to give him a good time to come back to office,” he said.

Suleiman also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as his performance in transforming Abuja, while expressing optimism that Tinubu’s achievements would resonate with voters ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
