The Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) has issued a caution to President Bola Tinubu regarding the report submitted by Jim Obazee, the special investigator tasked with scrutinising the activities of the country’s apex bank under its suspended Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

The Forum noted the need for the President to proceed cautiously, warning that he might unknowingly navigate a minefield while blindfolded.

In a press statement signed by its president, Aliyu Muhammad, the Forum asserted that Obazee lacks the qualifications to lead such a specialised investigation, especially concerning financial matters, considering his past conduct.

Muhammad highlighted that Obazee is unsuitable for investigating the CBN or any financial institution, citing his questionable track record.

“Mr President should heed to the action of firing Jim Obazee by his Predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari who is known to despise and fight corruption.

“Yes, CBN should be probed and investigated, but not by an individual with questionable character, integrity and a tone of corruption cases, graft and misuse of public funds himself.

“Therefore, President Bola Tinubu must not use this report, its basis are as compromised as the author of the report. It is one sided, partial and some of it’s recommendations are fatal to the economic wellbeing of Nigeria,” the statement said.
