The Northern States Governors‘ Forum (NSGF) has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the rising insecurity in the region.
Chairman of the NSGF and governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, expressed the governor‘s commitment when he received a comprehensive report from the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) on the region‘s insecurity at the government house Gombe on Monday.
Governor Inuwa emphasised the governors‘ collective concerns, saying, We are deeply concerned about the security situation in Northern Nigeria.
The region‘s agricultural strength plays a significant role in ensuring food security in Nigeria.
Unfortunately, the current insecurity is disrupting these activities, contributing to the rising cost of food commodities, which affects all Nigerians, not just those in the North.“, he said.
He said the forum plans to convene an expanded meeting with stakeholders to discuss and implement strategies to address the insecurity.
Governor Inuwa commended the CNG for its detailed analysis and acknowledged its role in addressing the region‘s pressing issues.
Our correspondent reports that the CNG has also submitted the report to President Bola Tinubu through the office of the National Security Adviser for onward processing.
