The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has announced the death of its pioneer spokesperson and founding member, Alhaji Suleiman Abdulazeez, describing his passing as a major loss to Northern Nigeria and the country as a whole.

The coalition noted that Abdulazeez played a significant role in shaping public discourse, serving as a pioneer spokesperson for the CNG and a former spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum.

In a statement issued by the national coordinator of the coalition, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group expressed grief over the death of Abdulazeez, who it described as a courageous advocate for justice, education, equity and societal reform.

According to the statement, the late Abdulazeez remained committed to advancing Northern Nigeria and the unity of the country until his final moments, serving as a voice for the oppressed and a defender of truth.

The CNG disclosed that Abdulazeez is survived by two wives, children, relatives, associates, and admirers across the country.

Charanchi said, “As a pioneer spokesperson of the CNG and former spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum, he played historic roles in shaping public discourse on issues affecting the North and Nigeria at large. Through wisdom, courage, and uncommon patriotism, he dedicated his life to confronting injustice, illiteracy, insecurity, and social inequality.

“The late Abdulazeez was widely respected for his humility, simplicity, honesty, and selfless lifestyle despite his towering influence and vast contributions to society. He believed strongly that education and social consciousness were critical tools for liberating Northern Nigeria from poverty, ignorance, and underdevelopment.”

The group also recalled his dedication to protecting Northern interests and preserving the values of the Zazzau Emirate.

The CNG recalls with pride his tireless commitment to the protection of Northern interests, the preservation of the values of the revered Zazzau Emirate, and his continuous efforts toward building a more just and responsible society.

He added, “His passing has created a huge vacuum that will be difficult to fill. Northern Nigeria has lost one of its most courageous public voices, finest intellectuals, and committed patriots.

“While mourning this painful loss, the CNG celebrates a life dedicated to sacrifice, integrity, humanity, and service to society. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of Northerners and Nigerians committed to justice and societal progress.

“He is survived by two wives, many children, relatives, friends, associates, and countless admirers across Nigeria. The Coalition of Northern Groups extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, associates, the people of the Zazzau Emirate, members of the Northern Elders Forum, and all Nigerians affected by this monumental loss.
