A group under the auspices of Igbo Political Movement in 19 Northern States and FCT, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.

It called on Nigerians to shun division and politics of bitterness.

The group said the decision to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu was made after thorough review of the last three years of his administration and consultations with traders, captains of industries, youth, women and community leaders across the 19 northern states and FCT, Abuja.

Addressing a news conference in Kaduna at the weekend, the group’s director-general, John Amaechi Onwe, said they believe the reforms Tinubu had started need time to mature, stressing that Nigeria needs continuity and not disruption.

Onwe pledged that the group would mobilise voters for the candidates running for governorship and legislative positions under APC in all the northern states.

According to the group, “When President Tinubu assumed office, Nigeria was at a crossroads between internally generated backwardness and lack of accountability. The President made difficult but necessary decisions that no leader before him had the courage to make.
Let us judge leaders by results.”

“I stand before you today on behalf of Igbo Political Movement 19 Northern States and FCT under the mandate of Igbo Delegate Assembly 19 Northern States and FCT, a body that strongly believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We stand unequivocally to make a clear and historic declaration: We, the Igbo Political Movement 19 Northern States and FCT who believe in unity, enterprise, and progress, are throwing our full weight behind the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in 2027,” the group stated.
