The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire outbreak at an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, which claimed several lives.
The chairman of the forum, Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’adua, said the senators extended their condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Zamfara State.
“We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and share in the grief of those who lost their loved ones. Our prayers are with the affected families during this difficult time,” he said.
The forum called on the Ministry of Education at the state level to strengthen the supervision and accreditation of schools to ensure safety standards are met before operations commence.
They emphasised the need for preventive measures to avert similar tragedies in the future.
The senators urged the Zamfara State Government to provide adequate support and compensation to the bereaved families.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants eternal rest to the departed souls and gives their families the strength to bear this loss.
“This tragic incident should serve as a wake-up call for all stakeholders to prioritise the safety and well-being of our children in public institutions,” the senators added.
The Northern Senators Forum reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the situation and working on legislative measures to improve the safety standards of schools across the region.
