The Association of Northern Nigeria Students (ANNS) has passed a vote of confidence in the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), declaring that his leadership has demonstrated the capacity and commitment required to confront Nigeria’s growing security challenges.

The students’ body, in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Baba Mahadi, said Musa had remained committed to the peace, unity and security of the country, describing his record of service as evidence of patriotism and dedication to national duty.

ANNS said the Defence minister had continued to demonstrate courage and responsibility in addressing issues affecting national security, adding that Nigerians should recognise and support the efforts of security institutions rather than undermine them.

“General Musa has consistently demonstrated courage, patriotism, and an unwavering commitment to the peace, unity, and security of our nation,” the association said.

The group maintained that Nigeria’s security challenges required collective responsibility, urging citizens to adopt objective positions on national issues and support lawful efforts to protect the country.

It further called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and allow due process to prevail in resolving issues surrounding national security and the operations of security agencies.

According to ANNS, the country belongs to all Nigerians, making it imperative for citizens to contribute constructively to the fight against insecurity.

“Nigeria belongs to its citizens and we, the citizens, must rise to be objective in our views to face the security challenges bedevilling the nation,” the statement added.

The students also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Musa as Defence Minister, saying the retired general had demonstrated capacity since assuming office under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

ANNS said Musa’s experience and commitment to national security remained valuable at a time Nigeria was confronting complex security threats across different parts of the country.

The association therefore urged Nigerians to continue supporting the country’s security institutions in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, while maintaining peace and confidence in lawful processes.
