The Northern Youth Merger Group, a prominent youth coalition within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lauded President Bola Tinubu for what it described as a significant drop in food inflation, attributing the progress to the administration’s targeted economic policies.
The group’s coordinator, Comrade Mujahid Zaitawa, highlighted the recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which indicated a 25% decline in food inflation.
He pointed to key government interventions, particularly the 50% subsidy on agricultural inputs, as instrumental in boosting food production and stabilizing prices.
Speaking on the development, Zaitawa emphasized that the subsidy has alleviated pressure on farmers, enabling them to produce more despite prevailing economic challenges.
“This initiative has provided much-needed relief to farmers, allowing them to sustain and expand their production capacity,” he said.
The Northern Youth Merger Group, known for its advocacy of economic growth and development-focused policies, reaffirmed its support for the administration’s strategies in tackling inflation and ensuring food security.
The group believed that continued investment in the agricultural sector will not only stabilize food prices but also enhance national economic resilience.
With the government intensifying its economic stabilisation efforts, Zaitawa expressed optimism about long-term improvements in Nigeria’s food security and overall economic well-being.
He urged policymakers to sustain and expand these initiatives to further cushion the impact of global economic pressures on the Nigerian populace.
