A pressure group in the north known as ‘North East Youth Reformation Forum’ has strongly condemned what it described as unjust detention and trial of northern minors arrested during the recent end bad governance protest in the country.
In a statement issued by its president, Comrade Abdurrazak Sani Albany, the forum called on the federal government to intervene and review the case, claiming that the arrested boys are unable to feed, let alone afford the hefty fine imposed on them.
Albany urged northern leaders to take action and demanded that representatives, governors, ministers, and other influential figures of northern extraction stand up for the boys’ freedom.
He also appealed to Islamic clerics and the community to pray for their release.
“The forum demands an immediate review of the unjust sentence and calls for intervention from the federal government and northern leaders,” he said.
The organisation also seeks support for education and empowerment initiatives to uplift youths.
