In a renewed push to tackle insecurity in Nigeria’s Northwest region, the Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the Northwest Governors Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, led a high-powered delegation of Northwest governors and representatives to a strategic closed-door meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The crucial meeting, focused on restrategizing and enhancing coordinated security operations across the region, which has been plagued by persistent banditry and related criminal activities.

The engagement comes on the heels of recent military successes that have seen several bandit enclaves dismantled and key kingpins neutralised.

Accompanying Governor Radda were the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal; Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir; and the Secretary to the State Government of Kebbi State, Alhaji Yakubu Bala.

The meeting is expected to yield fresh strategies that will further bolster joint operations and intelligence sharing, to eliminate and enhance hideouts and enhance security for farming and rural communities as the rainy season progresses.
