Norwich City staged a remarkable comeback to defeat promotion hopefuls Millwall at a packed Den on Monday. The Canaries’ victory keeps their slim play-off aspirations alive, while the Lions could drop out of the top two.
Millwall manager Alex Neil introduced striker Mihailo Ivanovic at half-time after a lacklustre first-half display. The Serbian forward quickly made an impact, putting Millwall ahead in the 56th minute.
However, Norwich boss Philippe Clement’s own half-time substitution proved pivotal. Mohamed Toure, brought on at the interval, was instrumental in both of the visitors’ goals. Pelle Mattsson levelled the score with a stunning strike, before Toure set up fellow substitute Oscar Schwartau for the winner.
Norwich’s impressive away form continues, with seven wins in their last nine matches on the road. Millwall, conversely, have now won just two of their last five home fixtures.
Despite a crucial away win against Middlesbrough on Good Friday, Millwall were largely outplayed in the first half. Norwich dominated possession with over 60% and registered eight shots to Millwall’s two. Canaries full-back Josh Stacey went close, and Kenny McLean had a shot saved by Millwall’s on-loan Sunderland goalkeeper, Anthony Patterson.
Ivanovic’s opener came from a superb cross from the right by Casper De Norre. Yet, Norwich responded swiftly with two goals in 14 minutes, taking their 2026 points tally to 29.
Next, Millwall travel to relegation-threatened West Bromwich Albion on Friday. Norwich will host Ipswich in a crucial East Anglian derby at Carrow Road on Saturday, aiming to dent their local rivals’ automatic promotion hopes.
