Former Super Eagle star, Mutiu Adepoju, has said that starting the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) 2023/2024 season late will lead to rushing of the fixtures, as he called for whatever the reason for the delay to be sorted quickly.

At first, the commencement of the 2023–2024 NPFL season was slated for August 26; however, it was deferred as the league’s governing body opted to install and conduct a trial run of AI cameras for broadcasting league fixtures.

However, despite the highly anticipated start of the 2023–2024 NPFL season just three days away, the Nigeria Premier League board officially announced on September 6th that its commencement would be delayed once again. And there is no indication as to when a new launch date will be declared.

Commenting on the development, Adepoju said: “I want to believe that there is an issue, and that is why the league did not start again this weekend. All other leagues have started, and the implementation is going to be like what we have witnessed before when the season did not start at the right moment that it was supposed to start, which will make us rush fixtures afterwards.”
