Former champions Enyimba International of Aba secured a vital 2-0 victory over Plateau United on Sunday, a result that significantly improves their standing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The win at home saw the “People’s Elephant” climb out of the relegation zone into 15th position, much to the relief of their fans.
The first half remained a tense affair, with both teams failing to break the deadlock, heading into halftime at 0-0. However, Enyimba found their rhythm in the second half. Peter Odeh opened the scoring in the 56th minute, giving the home side a much-needed lead. Not long after, Chijioke Ufere doubled Enyimba’s advantage in the 64th minute, effectively sealing the win.
For Plateau United, the loss is a bitter pill to swallow, as they are now pushed further into the precarious relegation battle. The result highlights the intense competition in the NPFL as teams fight to avoid the drop.
