The formal commencement of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season will kick off with an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abuja.
In a letter of invitation sent to the clubs, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi stated that the AGM will take place on Monday, July 28, at the Abuja Continental Hotel (formerly the Sheraton Hotels), with all participants expected to arrive on Sunday, July 27.
One of the key agenda items for the AGM will be the draw ceremony for the fixtures of the new season, which is slated to begin on August 22.
“In addition to the various reports that will be presented at the AGM, we will also establish the framework for the fixtures of the new season,” Owumi informed NPFL Media.
The Chairman of the Board, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, will lead the meeting alongside board members and the 20 clubs that participated in the previous season. The four clubs promoted to the NPFL will be formally welcomed, while the four relegated clubs will be attending their final meeting as part of the elite league.
The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, is expected to officially open the meeting, with several ex-international players in attendance to add prestige to the draw event.
