The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has named Ben Iloanusi as its acting managing director following the completion of Fidet Okhiria’s second four-year term in office.
The handover, which occurred on October 18, marked the beginning of Iloanusi’s leadership of the corporation.
The transition was confirmed in a statement released by the NRC’s deputy director of public relations, Yakub Mahmood. The statement highlighted Iloanusi’s qualifications and extensive experience within the organisation.
Having joined the NRC in 2011, Iloanusi steadily advanced to become the most senior Executive Director. Since 2019, he has served as the deputy director of procurement.
He holds a degree in political science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA in international management from South Bank University, London.
In his farewell address, Fidet Okhiria expressed gratitude to the NRC staff for their cooperation throughout his tenure and urged them to extend the same support to his successor.
“I urge the management and staff of the corporation to offer the same level of cooperation and understanding to the acting Managing Director,” Okhiria stated.
In response, Iloanusi appealed for the workforce’s support and encouraged constructive feedback to improve the corporation’s performance.
He affirmed his commitment to steering the NRC efficiently through the transitional period.
