The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has described the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja on the party’s leadership crisis as a victory for justice and the rule of law.

The National Chairman of NRM, Dr Chinedu Obi, stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja, saying the judgment had put an end to attempts to factionalise the party.

Obi commended the judiciary for remaining the last hope of the common man.

He explained that the court, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, dismissed a suit filed by a splinter group seeking to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise it as the authentic leadership of the party.

According to him, the leadership tussle began after the suspension and subsequent expulsion of the former national chairman of NRM, Isaac Udeh, over alleged anti-party activities.

Obi further alleged that Udeh conspired with Edozie Njoku to destabilise the party.

He said Justice Abdulmalik dismissed the suit, describing the plaintiffs as “forum shoppers.”

The NRM chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its blueprint for rescuing the country as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
