National Sports Commission (NSC) has praised the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) for its achievements since Dr Ibrahim Abdul took the helms in September 2021.

NSC chairman, Malam Shebu Dikko, expressed this commendation during the NWF 2025 Elective Congress held over the weekend in Abuja.

Represented by his special adviser on Strategy, Legal Affairs and Administration, Barr Musa Amadu, the NSC boss promised support for the federation to succeed

“The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation is a key player in the realm of sports development in Nigeria. As the National Sports Commission, we take pride in the accomplishments and successes achieved by the federation over the years.

“Weightlifting has significantly benefited this country, and we must do everything possible to restore those glory days. For this to happen, the men and women on the NWF board must possess a passion for the sport,” he stated.

In a display of solidarity and affirmation of continuity, the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation Board has re-elected Dr Ibrahim Abdul as its President for a second term.

Dr Abdul’s re-election occurred during the NWF 2025 Elective Congress at the Gymnasium Hall in Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday.

Although he was the only candidate for the position, he received all 12 votes from the Executive Board members, securing his office for the next four years.
