In line with the global digitalisation trend, the National Sports Commission,is set to synergise with Galaxy Backbone, for the Digitalization of Stadia facilities and infrastructure across the country.
The Chairman National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, disclosed this when he received members of Galaxy Backbone, on a courtesy call in his office at the National Stadium, Abuja.
Mallam Dikko, noted that the vision of his administration is to get all the stadia and sporting infrastructure energized and actively ICT compliant in line with global best practices.
“One of the foundations of hosting an exotic global event is digitalization of all Stadia facilities and infrastructure, and as a country, we should not be left behind. We should be able to get our domestic sports working before going international,” Dikko said.
He assured the Galaxy Team of the Commissions intent to partner with the organisation, especially as the National Sports Festival draws near, adding that all the twelve venues of the festival would have to be digitised.
Dikko, pointed out that the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is for the country to have at least six standard and competent stadia to host international events across the six geo political zones.
This, according to him, “pointed to the urgent need to get our major sporting infrastructure fully activated with proper technology and upgraded to have a proper ICT solution that is stable and consistent.”
He explained further that with the ICT in place, E-Games can be introduced in the various sports centres in the country so that people, especially the young ones, can use them for commercial benefits.
Earlier in his remarks, leader of the Galaxy Team Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, said the organisation came in order to identify with the NSC leadership and extend a hand of partnership to the Commission to ensure a digital transformation of sports facilities across the country.
Professor Adeyanju, revealed that as a Federal government owned body, the organization has provided services to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies in terms of connectivity which according to him “is very important to all facets of life and that, sports should not be left behind.”
