In line with the renewed mission and vision of the National Sports Commission (NSC) under the leadership of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, the NSC is set to host a two-day capacity-building workshop aimed at empowering its sports officers and professionals.
The workshop, themed “Reset, Refocus and Relaunch the Nigerian Sports Sector for Greater Performance,” will take place from 6 to 7 May at the Media Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
This initiative, according to a press statement signed by Mrs Kehinde Ajayi, director of
information and public relations, NSC, aligns with the commission’s strategic direction towards building a more vibrant and economically viable sports sector.
Dubbed “Striving for Excellence,” the workshop is designed to equip NSC personnel—who are the key drivers of the Commission’s new agenda—with the tools, knowledge, and mindset necessary to enhance productivity and service delivery across the sports ecosystem.
The director of elite athletes, Mr Olumide Bamiduro, stated, “It is critical to train the sports officers because we aspire for them to work with updated knowledge of global best practices, especially at the elite level of sports performance. This initiative is a vital step toward unlocking the full potential of the Sports Economy in Nigeria.”
He added that participants will engage in high-impact sessions centred on innovation, accountability, and strategic planning tailored to the evolving goals of the Commission.
