The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has been awarded an honorary Doctorate in Peace and Security Management by Prowess University, Delaware, USA.
The award was formally presented by Professor Eze C. Nwauba, a representative of Prowess University in Africa, alongside officials from the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM) during a ceremony held in Abuja.
This was contained in a statement issued by the FCT Command public relations officer, DSC Monica Ojobi.
The organisers stated that Odumosu’s selection followed a unanimous endorsement by the advisory board of CIISM and the award selection committee, in recognition of his impactful contributions to public service.
The honour was conferred during a capacity-building workshop, induction, and dinner event at the Army Resource Centre, Asokoro, where several professionals were also celebrated.
Dr. Odumosu was commended for his exceptional leadership, humanitarian interventions, and dedication to promoting justice, accountability, and peace throughout his career.
In addition to the honorary degree, he was officially inducted as a Fellow of the CIISM, a professional body focused on strategic knowledge development and recognition of distinguished individuals across sectors.
Reacting after the event, Odumosu described the honour as a deeply humbling experience, attributing the recognition to the collective efforts of his colleagues, mentors, and all those who have supported his professional journey.
“This award is not just for me but for everyone I have worked with in building a safer and more just society. It inspires me to do even more,” he said in the statement.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing national peace and security, stating that he remains motivated to serve wherever duty calls.
