Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has uncovered some fuel stations selling adulterated products to unsuspected members of the public
The commandant of the NSCDC command, Joachin Okafor disclosed this when commissioner for Communications Technology and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah paid him a visit at the command office in Minna.
He said the discovery of the stations followed complaints by members of the public that their vehicles develop faults after fueling in some of the fuel stations.
He said, “Last week, we received information from the public concerning one fuel station dealing in adulterated Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petroleum. We invited the manager of the station. We first carried out a manual evaporation test of the product and we noticed that there was an element of adulteration of the product.
“Then, we invited the DPR, and we did the laboratory test of the product and the result showed that the station was dealing with fake and adulterated PMS.”
He stated further that “we received another complaint of another fuel station dealing with a similar product. We are still investigating this case. Also, sometime in January, we went to Tafa based on an intelligence report and discovered a compound where the suspects were doing adulteration of PMS.”
The commissioner for communications technology and digital economy, Suleiman Isah said telecom facilities were vandalised in the state and was in command to seek the intervention of NSCDC to check the trend.
