The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has assured applicants that the long-awaited recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) and Federal Fire Service (FFS) will be concluded within four weeks.

The latest assurance comes after a prolonged recruitment process that has left thousands of unemployed Nigerian youths anxiously waiting for the final outcome of the exercise.

In a statement signed by the secretary to the Board, Major General (Rtd.) A. M. Jibril, on Friday, August 21, 2026, the CDCFIB acknowledged the enormous anticipation surrounding the recruitment exercise and explained that the large number of applications received nationwide required a comprehensive and credible selection process.

The Board said it would not rush the exercise at the expense of fairness, but stressed that the process had now reached its final stages.

According to the CDCFIB, the recruitment will be concluded within four weeks, after which successful candidates will be notified through the official recruitment platform.

The Board said the selection process would be guided by justice, merit, federal character, due process and the operational requirements of the four services.

“The recruitment process has taken place, and it has now reached its last stages, which will be completed within four weeks,” the Board stated.

The CDCFIB urged applicants to remain patient and continue to monitor the official recruitment portal for authentic information.

The Board assured candidates that their patience would be rewarded, effectively signalling that the recruitment exercise, which has kept thousands of applicants waiting for an extended period, is now entering its final stretch.

This is even as it urged applicants to be extremely cautious of individuals or platforms demanding money or claiming to have access to undisclosed recruitment lists.

LEADERSHIP reports that with the CDCFIB now putting a four-week timeline on the completion of the process, applicants and their families will be hoping that the latest assurance brings an end to the uncertainty and opens the way for the long-awaited announcement of successful candidates.

Reacting to the development, an applicant who gave his name only as Celestine said he had lost faith in the process , describing the prolonged delay as a source of growing frustration and uncertainty.

“For me, the delay has been a source of growing frustration and uncertainty, particularly as the recruitment exercise represents a major opportunity for young Nigerians seeking employment and a chance to begin their careers in the nation’s paramilitary services,” the applicant said.

Another applicant, Stella Omakun said, “The prolonged wait has also created an environment that scammers and fraudsters have increasingly exploited, with applicants being exposed to fake updates, fabricated recruitment information and fraudulent claims about the release of shortlisted names and other stages of the exercise.”
