Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a 22-year-old Yahaya Mohammed in connection with a suspected case of drug trafficking and possession of illegal firearms in Giade, Bauchi State.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Mohammed was arrested last year but remained dogged and continued trafficking various illicit drugs from the southern part of the country to his native Giade until he was rearrested.
While parading the suspect, NSCDC commandant in Bauchi, Mr Ilelaboye Oyejide, said items recovered from the suspect include dane gun, knives, diabolic charms, cannabis and various types of illicit drugs.
He said Mohammed concealed the drugs in his farm while the illegal firearms were recovered from his room.
The commandant said at the end of investigation, the suspect will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for proper prosecution.
Similarly, Oyejide said the command also arrested one Abdulrahaman Suleiman in possession of illegal firearms and involvement in kidnapping activities in Toro local government area.
He explained that dane guns, revolver pistols and knives were recovered from him, adding that he confessed to being a friend to a notorious kidnap suspect who they paraded and handed over to relevant security agency some times last month.
The suspect, Yahaya Mohammed, said he drove a bus conveying goods to the southern part of Nigeria, adding that while returning, he used to conceal the illicit drugs which he sells at retail price in Giade.
He said the firearms were acquired when he worked as a vigilante in his community.
