Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State have arrested one Abdusalam Ajibola, 40, for parading himself as a military officer.
Ajibola is being accused of impersonation and fraud after he allegedly defrauded his victims to the tune of N796,000, promising to help them secure admissions at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the suspect also took a Toyota picnic car from one Prophet Samuel Olugbemiga for commercial transportation after which he absconded.
The spokesman of NSCDC in the state, Ayeni Olasunkanmi confirmed the arrest of Ajibola to LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, yesterday.
“The tracking unit of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command apprehended one Abdulsalam Ajibola, a 42-year-old for allegedly impersonating a soldier to defraud some Nigerians.
“The suspect was tracked down at Oke-Onigbin, in Isin LGA, Kwara State on March 24, 2023 by the tracking unit of the command,” he said.
Abdulsalam was alleged to have impersonated a soldier to defraud Abdullahi Saheed of N700,000 and Ropo Gabriel to the tune of N96,000, having promised to help them get admission into Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
“He was alleged to have also falsely taken a Toyota picnic car from one Prophet Samuel Olugbemiga for commercial transportation after which he absconded. The suspect will be arraigned before the court for prosecution,” Olasunkanmi stated.
