Operatives of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State command have arrested three suspected dealers on vandalised railway lines and slippers in Aba.

The state commandant, Usman Alfadarai stated this yesterday while speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia, the State capital.

“To say the least, their activities are a serious negation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the resolve of our commandant-general, Ahmed Audi to end crime and criminality in the country,” he lamented.

He said the suspects, who are members of a syndicate that specialises in dealing on scrap metals suspected to be railway lines and slippers, were arrested in their factory at 2nd Power Line by Ogbo Osisi, Urratta.

“During the raid, we recovered large quantities of railway lines and slippers being processed in preparation to be moved to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

“We apprehended the suspects at the scene while we will expand our investigations to uncover all the culprits in these activities that are capable of crippling the economy of the country,” he said.

He called on criminals and their sponsors in the state to either desist from their operations or relocate, warning that the command would leave no stone unturned to rid the state of them.

“We’re equally appealing to members of the general public to cooperate more with the command by sharing credible intelligence with us always,” Alfadarai added.
