Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has organised a 2-day sensitisation and awareness workshop for its personnel against job racketeering, financial fraud and its consequences.

The workshop, which was held at the NSCDC conference hall of the state Command in Birnin Kebbi, was attended by officials of the ICPC, EFCC, and NOA. During the workshop, they discussed issues of job racketeering and financial fraud.

In his opening remarks, Kebbi State NSCDC Commandant Kabiru Abubakar Alkamawa welcomed participants on behalf of the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, saying the workshop was organised at the CG’s initiative to reposition the Corps nationwide as a modern elite security outfit in line with international best practices.

Alkamawa added that the workshop’s aim is to eliminate sharp practices in the Corps and restore the general public’s confidence.

He noted that over the years, some unscrupulous elements have hidden under the banner of some Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to perpetrate sharp practices like job racketeering and financial fraud, particularly on job seekers.

He warned that whoever is caught would be decisively dealt with in line with the extant laws.

In their separate contributions, resource persons from ICPC, EFCC and NOA attributed job racketeering and financial fraud to the insiders.

They called on the heads of security agencies to always crosscheck the processes of recruitment exercises in their formations in order to curb employment through the window.
