The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr Margaret Aina Oguntala, has charged 178 newly conferred fellows of the Society to promote Nigerian Content Development in all its ramifications.
She gave the charge at the fellowship conferment on 178 distinguished engineers.

She said the presence of top government functionaries at the ceremony indicated their recognition and identification with the engineering profession as an essential stakeholder in nation-building.

She said the profession has struck a friendship that fosters collaborations across sectors for the growth and development of the country.

She said the 178 Engrs conferred with fellowship have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made remarkable contributions to the advancement of the engineering profession.

“This is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work, dedication and leadership.”

The president charged members to engage with politicians and stakeholders and forge meaningful relationships culminating in long-term collaborations. This will ultimately lead to mutual advancement for our respective professions and progress and prosperity for our dear nation.

Oguntala said the Nigerian Society of Engineers was established in 1958 as the umbrella organisation for the engineering profession in Nigeria.

This includes partnerships and other cooperative services with corporate entities and the various organs of government to positively influence engineering and technological policies for the growth and advancement of our dear country.

She, therefore, called on stakeholders from various sectors to join forces with the Nigerian Society of Engineers to jointly provide meaningful support to the government in the areas of tackling critical national issues such as improving the country’s infrastructure stock, combating diseases, creating employment, alleviating poverty and generally improving the living standards of our citizens.

The collective strength of Engineers alongside other professionals will undoubtedly unlock the potentials that will bring about the much-needed development in our country,“

To the 178 Conferees, she said, „As you join the league of elite professionals in delivering value services for the development of your beloved nation, I congratulate you once again. In the future, it will be great for you to carry the banner of our Society high anywhere you go. We also want you to carry yourself with the dignity and comportment this Fellowship bestows.

In addition to your duty as torchbearers of the promotion of the standards and ethics of NSE, I urge you to promote Nigerian Content Development in all ramifications. It is the only way to guarantee sustainable infrastructure delivery in Nigeria. My last word for you tonight is to let your work inspire and set benchmarks for others to follow. Embrace this honour with a sense of responsibility and commitment. Be the torchbearers of progress, the champions of quality and the advocates for sustainable development,“ she said.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Fellows, Engr. Kamila Maliki commended the conferees for distinguishing themselves. He charged them to play active roles in the nation‘s infrastructural growth.
