A 26-man accreditation team from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, has said the team would be objective, transparent and meticulous in carrying out its accreditation exercise in University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL).
The chairman of the team, Prof Andrew Uduigwomen, disclosed this yesterday when the delegation, made up of professors and experts in various disciplines, visited the institution.
He said the accreditation was an indispensable ritual in the university system which is carried out using the standard set by NUC, urging UNIDEL to embrace it as it will aid the university’s growth and attract global visibility.
Uduigwomen assured the university management of his readiness to do the needful in ensuring a huge success of the exercise adding that the team will give useful advice where necessary.
In his welcome address, the vice chancellor of UNIDEL, Prof Stella Chiemeke, appreciated the NUC team for what it had been doing in Nigerian universities, especially in UNIDEL which, according to her was upgraded from College of Education to a university in 2021.
She stated further that the deans, heads of department and resource persons were fully ready for the exercise.
The registrar of the institution, commended the NUC team and pledged management support to co- operate with the team for a seamless exercise which would be a- win-win- situation.
