Ahead of the 2023 general election, Akwa Ibom State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) has concluded plans to stage live debate for no fewer than six governorship candidates on January 29, 2023.
The organisers stated this at a press conference in Uyo, the state capital yesterday.
The chairman of the political committee of NUJ, Comrade Aniekan Udofia, said of the 18 registered political parties, only six of them have indicated interest to participate.
Udofia listed the political parties to include African Alliance Congress(AAC) , African Democratic Congress (ADC), Young People Party( YPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
He said, “The 2023 Akwa Ibom Governorship Debate is scheduled to hold on Sunday, 29th January, 2023, at Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort.
“The Debate will be broadcast live on 11 radio stations, six television stations and streamed live on several social media platforms for the people to hear first-hand the plans of the invited governorship candidates for the state.”
Udofia said 20 partners drawn from the NLC and CSOs would collaborate with the NUJ Political Committee to sponsor the gubernatorial debate.
