A yet-to-be-identified nurse at the weekend miraculously walked away unscathed after a heavy-duty truck rammed into her car, leaving it mangled and unrecognisable.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend at Avu Junction along Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, Imo State has left onlookers stunned and bewildered.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck driver had lost control, careening into the silver-painted Camry car ahead, resulting in immediate and severe impact. The truck, loaded with cement, forced the car into a twisted and crushed state, prompting bystanders to assume there might not be any survivors.
LEADERSHIP gathered that about 30 minutes later, an elderly man arrived at the scene, pleading with onlookers to assist in unloading the cement to reduce the weight pressing down on the car.
“One elderly man arrived and begged us to help rescue his daughter trapped inside,” recounted a witness.
“Due to the extent of the crushing, nobody could hear anything or anyone in the vehicle. The lady trapped inside managed to call her father and confirmed she was unhurt but trapped.”
Witnesses rallied to assist in unloading the truck. After an hour-long effort, they successfully pulled the nurse from the wreckage. The survival of the nurse amid the severe wreckage was described as an extraordinary miracle by bystanders.
“It was the miracle of the year,” one passerby told LEADERSHIP. “Truth is, there is no way to explain how the nurse came out alive and unhurt. Every other thing in the car except her phone was crushed beyond recognition.”
As of the time of this report, both the truck and the car remain abandoned on the road, marking a shocking testament to the astonishing survival of the nurse in the face of such a devastating accident.
