As Nigeria marks it’s 2022 Nutrition Week, stakeholders have identified sustainable diets as panacea to achieving the country’s nutrition target.
The permanent secretary, Budget and National Planning, Engr. Nebeolisa Anako, who spoke during the flag off/launch of Performance Management System during the briefing in commemoration of 2022 Nutrition Week, with the theme: “Achieving Sustainable Diets Through Consumption of Locally Available Foods”, said Nigeria has a level of hunger that is serious.
The event, organised by CS-SUNN in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, was aimed at intensifying awareness on the importance of food and nutrition on child survival and it impact on development, productivity, economic growth and national development.
Meanwhile, the permanent secretary said the present administration has showed a clear commitment to the eradication of malnutrition.
This, he said is evident in the incorporation of the National Multi-sectoral Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition (NMPFAN 2021-2025) into the National Development Plan 2021-2025 to give the needed visibility to nutrition.
