A philanthropist and president of Goodluck Nwaneri Foundation (GNF), Chief Goodluck Chidera Nwaneri, has said he would engage in wide consultations before responding to calls on him to join politics.

In response to calls, especially from youths under the auspices of Coalition of Patriotic Youth Leaders, a group representing youth organisations and civil society organisations, he said in a statement in Abuja yesterday that while he was honoured by their confidence in his leadership prowess and unwavering commitment to national development, he would consult stakeholders, mentors and people whose voices must be amplified in governance before reaching a decision.

“I feel deeply honoured by the call from the Coalition of Patriotic Youth Leaders, representing the Nigerian youth constituency, mandating me to step into the political arena.

I must confess that your confidence in my leadership prowess and unwavering commitment to national development, is truly humbling.

“Throughout my journey as a philanthropist, I have remained dedicated to uplifting our communities, fostering youth empowerment, and advocating for progressive change. I strongly believe that the energy, innovation and resilience of our youth are vital in shaping a prosperous future for our nation. This solemn belief has always spurred and propelled me towards investing unreservedly in youth development and empowerment.

“As I reflect on this patriotic call to step into the political arena, I will engage in wide consultations with stakeholders, mentors, and the very people whose voices must be amplified in governance. As we all know, leadership is a responsibility that requires deep commitment, and if the will of the people aligns with the vision for a greater future, I will not shy away from the call to serve,” he said.

Chief Nwaneri expressed appreciation for the trust and confidence reposed in him by the group, saying he would officially communicate his decision in due course after a wide consultation.

“Let us continue to work together for a nation that thrives on unity, progress, equity, and opportunities for all. We are the hope of this great nation, and together, we shall make Nigeria stand tall among the comity of nations. God bless Nigerian youths! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

The Coalition of Patriotic Youth Leaders in a recent press conference urged Chief Nwaneri to actively participate in politics and vie for political offices, saying it was an appeal rooted in the aspirations of the people, the cry of the downtrodden and the urgent need for transformational leadership in Nigeria.

“We have critically assessed the socio-political landscape of our dear nation and have come to the undeniable conclusion that we need young patriotic, selfless and visionary leaders to take over the political affairs in our various states. It is time for good and patriotic citizens to actively participate in politics and vie for political offices,” the group said.
