Nwankwo who was elected as a new captain at the last Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the club, says his administration has mapped out plans to rebrand the club with a view to improve revenue generation and its sustainability.

The captain who spoke to LEADERSHIP Sports yesterday ahead of his inaugural tournament slated for Saturday, September 16, at the Kaduna Golf Club in kaduna, says his immediate target is to keep the golf course is perfect shape, and upgrade some aspect of the facility that will make life comfortable for members and attract revenues for the club.

“One of the things I want to do is to improve the golf course because every golfer yearns for a great course and a better managed section. I will do our best to meet those demands,” he pledged.

“Before I came in, the course was so bad and the first thing I did was to declare a state of emergency on the course. I strongly felt there was a need to improve the course because that is what brings sustainability, when a lot of people start coming to the club to play and it will bring more revenue to us.”

“The second thing was to improve the security of the club. Before I came in, the fence was down and we started work on it immediately which is now about 90 per cent complete. So, in that aspect we have also done so well.

“We also intend to go into full reticulation. The committee has been set up for the reticulation of the course so that the course can be playable both during the rainy and dry seasons.”

As the captain of the club, Nwankwo pledged to improve on the club’s House and rebrand the club to befitting its status as one of the oldest and best golf clubs in the country.

“We also want to improve the club’s House which is another issue that bothers on improving revenue generation of the club. And when we are done with that, we intend to go into other areas like rebranding the club to increase our revenues because we discovered that what is being obtained in the club by way of registration is no longer sustainable. So, after we are done with all these things I have mentioned, we are going into full branding of the course so that revenues can come in from everywhere,” Nwankwo stated.
