The technology integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance efficiency in resource management, supply chain operations, and policy formulation.

Speaking at its first anniversary and inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM), NWAPDI national coordinator, Farmer Omolara Svensson, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to empowering women and youth farmers.

She noted that since its inception, NWAPDI has distributed agricultural inputs across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and remains focused on placing Nigerian agriculture on the global map through technology-driven solution

“We can’t stay where we are and expect change to come. As the world evolves, we must evolve alongside it. Our goal is to ensure grassroots farmers have access to cutting-edge tools that will revolutionize their operations,” Svensson stated.

Managing-director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Folashade Joseph, urged farmers to take advantage of NAIC’s insurance packages to mitigate risks from climate-related disasters.

“We do not want agricultural ventures to collapse due to natural disasters. While we cannot prevent climate change, we can ensure farmers receive timely compensation when losses occur, allowing them to continue farming,” she said.

Joseph further encouraged farmers to form cooperatives to facilitate access to insurance and financial support.

To further bolster NWAPDI’s mission, Dion Croom, president of Norcom LLC,  reaffirmed his company’s commitment to equipping Nigerian farmers with world-class digital skills.

“Our partnership with NWAPDI is aimed at introducing advanced agricultural technology, ensuring Nigerian farmers compete globally in the digital age,” Croom noted.
