Nwifuru Decries Slow Work At Housing Estate

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has expressed concern over the slow pace of work at the Izzi Housing Estate aimed at resettling internally displaced persons during the Ezza/Ezillo communal crisis that rendered thousands of people homeless.

Inspecting the project in Ishielu local government area of the state, Governor Nwifuru said the state government was determined to ensure the speedy completion of work at the estate and decried the slow pace of work on the site. 

He maintained that funds were made available to the contractors handling the project and wondered why they should delay on the completion of the 140 housing unit.

The governor directed the Ministry of Housing to initiate the process of terminating some of the jobs where the contractor failed to show reasonable commitment.

Inspected the ongoing Chuba Okadigbo International Airport runway, the governor disclosed that the  project was awarded at the cost of N17.5 billion out of which over N15 billion  had been paid, adding that the balance would be paid upon completion of the project.
