The South-East Zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of incumbent President of the council, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo for a fresh term of 4years.
The endorsement of Amb. Sukubo by the South-East Youth Leaders comes in the build-up to the forthcoming National Elective Congress of NYCN scheduled for September this year.
The Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN in the South-East Zone in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Enugu made available yo newsmen on Wednesday cited Sukubo’s excellent performance in office and impactful leadership as reasons for their endorsement.
They said their choice of Amb. Sukubo for re-election as President is also predicated on his visionary leadership, strategic planning, effective communication, transparency and accountability, and his unwavering commitment to youth development.
According to the South Youth Leaders “Amb. Sukubo’s vision for the future of Nigerian youth is inspiring, and his commitment to driving positive change is evident in everything he does.”
“His integrity, compassion, and ability to foster social cohesion in the youth constituency across the country make him an outstanding candidate for this esteemed position.”
“Amb. Sukubo’s experience and track record demonstrate his capacity to lead and inspire meaningful progress in youth development.”
“His leadership style is characterized by inclusivity, responsiveness, empathy, and a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges facing Nigerian youth.”
The South-East Chairmen Forum of NYCN also said they have notified the relevant authorities, including the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiative, Delivery, and Monitoring, as well as the National Assembly Committees on Youth Development and State Governments in the zone, of their endorsement of Amb. Sukubo, while appealing for their support to ensure the success of the National Elective Congress.
They also said they have commenced massive mobilization across the five states of the zone for Sukubo, to ensure his resounding electoral victory at the poll.
The move by the South-East Youth Leaders adds to the growing list of endorsements from various zones of the National Youth Council of Nigeria across the country, further solidifying Sukubo’s position as a strong contender for the presidency of the apex youth body in the country.
Meanwhile, the South-East Chairmen Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has distanced itself from what it described as the shenanigans of certain individuals led by Mr. Solomon Adodo, who impersonate the President and National Executive of NYCN with the intent to mislead and defraud members of the public.
The Forum called on the Sukubo-led National Executive to take necessary action against the impostors within the ambit of the law, to serve as a deterrent.
Regarding the proposed National Youth Conference (Confab), an initiative of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, the Forum of South-East Chairmen of NYCN advocated for inclusive and adequate participation of youths from the zone.
They requested that the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the National Organizing Committee of the Confab allocate one thousand participation slots to the zone.
“We believe that involving more youths from the zone, the conference can better address regional concerns, harness opportunities, and develop targeted solutions that cater to the unique needs of the youth constituency in the South-East”.
