The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has lauded Bauchi State governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his unwavering commitment to improving the infrastructure at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa local government area of the state.

The NYSC’s state coordinator, Mr. Umoren Kufre, made the commendation yesterday during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course held at the camp.

A total of 1,300 corps members have completed the orientation exercise and have been posted across Bauchi State for the one-year mandatory national service.

Kufre also commended the governor for the recent renovation of corps members’ hostels and officials’ accommodation blocks, as well as the construction of a brand-new multipurpose hall, describing the gesture as a strong display of leadership and support for youth development.

“This kind gesture will remain fresh in our hearts for a long time. Your Excellency, thank you for your fatherly support to the youth,” Kufre stated.

He also acknowledged the state government for ensuring a secure and conducive environment throughout the orientation period, which he said played a vital role in the success of the three-week programme.

Kufre extended appreciation to all partner agencies that deployed personnel to support the smooth running of camp activities, as well as the NYSC staff for their dedication.

“I equally commend the Wailo Community for their hospitality over the years. Their support, especially in providing casual labour for the camp, greatly reduced stress for both corps members and officials,” he added.

The coordinator further applauded the corps members for demonstrating patriotism, discipline, resilience, and a spirit of unity during the orientation course.

He urged them to maintain high standards of conduct in their places of primary assignment, advising them to integrate with their host communities, respect local customs, and contribute meaningfully to development initiatives.

“The people of Bauchi are known for their hospitality. The provision of buses by local government councils to convey you to your areas of assignment is a testament to this.

“I encourage you to reciprocate this goodwill by giving your best to your host communities and the state at large,” Kufre said.
