The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has appointed Chief Emmanuel Iyase as Okao Eguae (District Head from the Benin Palace) over Ologbo and Ehor Dukedoms in Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwode local government areas of Edo State.

Iyase, the first Okao Eguae from the Benin Palace, will among other responsibilities, strengthen the traditional leadership structures in the areas.

He will oversee the Dukedoms previously overseen by the suspended Enigie of Ologbo (Prince Owen Jackson Akenzua) and Ehor (Chief D. E. Igiehon), who allegedly rebelled against the Benin monarch alongside 69 other suspended Dukes.

In a brief remark during Ekpomwen-abor, a ceremony of appreciation after conferment of chieftaincy title at Ugha Ozolua axis in the Oba Palace in Benin City, Oba Benin admonished the newly appointed Okao to shun acts that are unethical, practices that could cause either undermine the Oba authority or bring disrepute to the Dukedoms.
