The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has called for increased support for the developmental programmes of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, saying the initiatives will benefit vulnerable women and youths across the country.

Obasa made the call on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after a brief meeting with the First Lady at her office in the State House, Abuja.

He said ongoing interventions undertaken by the First Lady in critical sectors would reach more vulnerable groups with adequate support from governments at the subnational level.

The Lagos Assembly Speaker commended the impact of the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, particularly its interventions targeted at the less privileged in society.

Obasa urged state governments across the country to leverage the momentum created by the initiative to drive sustainable development and improve the welfare of citizens.

He noted that stronger collaboration between the federal and state governments would help expand the reach of the programme and enhance its impact on communities.

The Speaker also explained that his visit to the First Lady was to extend warm regards during the overlapping period of Ramadan and Lent.

He described the moment as a significant period for reflection and unity among Nigerians of different faiths.

The Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady focuses on supporting vulnerable groups, particularly women and youths, through programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting development.
