Former House of Representatives member representing Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, has said that he did not collect any money from the Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki before he allowed him to run with his ticket in 2020.
He said this at an enlarged meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Legacy Group in Benin on Friday.

Ogbeide-Ihama said if he had collected money from him, he may have been treated well.
He said, “If you remember this song, you will remember Ogbe Stadium, June of 2020 after the leaders, stakeholders from Edo South prevailed on me to please save governor Godwin Obaseki from political public disgrace.

“If you remember in June 2020, I decided to listen to the elders that the governor who is from Edo South, be allowed finish his second time.

“Did I not listen to everybody? I stepped down. I went to Ogbe Stadium and took the hands of governor Obaseki’s round, I climbed this podium and I sang this song.
“I played my part. Did I not play my part? Only God knows maybe I would have been the governor and pursuing my second tenure now but I did it because there is nobody you will beg for a thing that will not listen.

“I have said it in previous senatorial meetings, one naira, Godwin Obaseki didn’t give to me. He did not give me money; he took that ticket that I gave to him at no cost. Maybe if he paid billions, he will not treat me like this”, Ogbeide-Ihama said.
