The suspects: Fatai Ajibola and Sunday Oyero, were arrested within the premises of the Ogun State High Court sitting in Ilaro, Yewa South local government area where they appeared before Justice A. Shobayo in a case of arson among others instituted against them.

The arrest of the duo has resulted in a row between the operatives of the secret police and the counsel to the accused persons, Barr Kehinde Bamiwola of KH Bamiwola and Co, Beulah Chambers, who accused the DSS operatives of acting in flagrant disobedience to the order of the court, presided over by Justice Shobayo.

The legal practitioner, in a statement issued yesterday,ay argued that the court had earlier ordered the DSS operatives not to arrest anybody, particularly the duo of Ajibola and Oyero who are standing trial as defendants in an ongoing case of arson with suit number HCP/IC/2023.

While Bamiwola insisted that his clients were arrested within the court premises contrary to the order of Justice Shobayo, a source within the secret police said the arrest was effected outside the court’s premises, stressing that “the duo got apprehended in their vehicles outside the court while attempting to flee.”
