The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has charged all political stakeholders in Rivers State to embrace peace and work towards moving the state forward.
He also condemned the political crisis in Rivers State as a “misstep that should not have happened”.
He warned that the constitutional breach leading to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state by President Bola Tinubu would have long-lasting effects on Nigeria’s democracy.
Obi emphasized the importance of learning from such mistakes, stating that true leaders admit their errors, learn from them, and take action to correct them.
He commended the people of Rivers State for their resilience during the turbulent period and urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara, members of the State House of Assembly, and all political stakeholders in the state to embrace peace and work towards moving the state forward.
“I have the confidence that a new Nigeria is possible and inevitable. Hence I call on all stakeholders to strive for unity, prioritizing the stability and progress of the country.” He said.
