Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo has approved the sum of N10,000 as harmonisation allowance for all pensioners in the state
The governor gave the approval for the allowance after the presentation of the pension lift report by the state’s Head of Civil Service, Mr Elijah Evenemi
The Governor who expressed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of senior citizens, also commended the pensioners for their service during their active years.
Governor Ododo pledged that his administration will continue to build on the achievement of the former Governor Yahaya Bello, adding that pensioners that earn less than N50,000 will be enrolled into the health insurance scheme at the state and local government levels.
He stressed that said since his assumption into office, pensioners have been receiving their monthly pensions as at when due.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Mr Ohida Otaru lauded the governor for the audience given the union after 20 years without interface adjustment of the welfare package for their members.
He particularly commended the governor for the adjustment of the pensions which he noted will go a long way to improve the welfare of the senior citizens.
